Interview reveals the latest research and advancements on pre-hypertension
With an estimated 30 percent of American adults having pre-hypertension, news that of a simple and effective way to manage this condition is creating excitement among physicians, medical researchers and consumers. In this video, Mike Danielson interviews Britt Burton-Freeman, Ph.D., M.S., Director of Nutrition, for the Center for Nutrition Research at the Institute for Food Safety and Health at the Illinois Institute for Technology.
Having just completed her third human clinical trial using patented MegaNatural-BP Grape Seed Extract, Dr. Burton-Freeman is excited by the findings which show that dietary alternatives may be both convenient and effective. She describes the double blind, placebo-controlled study, which followed a group of people for six weeks. One group consumed a beverage containing MegaNatural-BP twice daily, the other group consumed a placebo beverage twice daily. After six weeks, the blood pressure of those in the MegaNatural-BP group had dropped to normal ranges. But four weeks after the study, without further access to MegaNatural-BP, their blood pressure had risen again. “Other studies showed a robust effect (of MegaNatural-BP) after just four weeks,” she commented.
The study indicates that people diagnosed with pre-hypertension may be able to maintain healthier blood pressure levels simply by consuming a low-calorie, fruit-flavored beverage twice daily. “It integrates into a normal lifestyle easily.”
